Talents Classiques – Dec. 2017

In May 2017, with the support of the Caisse des Depots et Consignations, the Orchestra organized the first regional competition entirely dedicated to instrumentalists from the Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes Region.

This competition aims to reveal the talents of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region without distinction of age or instrument. It is accessible to young people from 10 to 25 years playing a string or wind instrument.

With a national conservatory, 58 conservatories with regional, departmental and communal influence and more than 100 music schools, the dynamics of instrumental teaching in the Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes region is tremendous. The aim of the Concours Talents Classiques is to highlight the excellence of the region’s training, but also to show the public the extent of talent of local musicians.

While the national and international competitions privilege Paris, Brussels, Berlin or New York, it seemed important to us to bring the music in our territory, and favorizing musicians who evolve here by proposing to the future great professionals a contest especially dedicated to them.

This competition is thought of as a launching pad to accelerate the career development of these young people. Enriched by this unique experience that will lead to a professional video recording, this “business card” acts as a springboard for those who will evolve tomorrow on major classical scenes.
We do not judge the current level of the candidate but the potential of the young music players. It is not the age and the current level that counts but the potential! The jury will be able to issue a maximum of three prizes, all categories combined: The “Promising Talent” prize, the “Best Talent” prize, and the “Jury” Jury Prize. The winners will perform in front of the Isérois public during concerts with the Orchestra.

This contest acts as a launching pad and a unique opportunity for young talents of the territory.
